Pre-Medical Programme (Pre-Medical Foundation Degree Certificate)

Duration: 4 Semesters (2 Years or 1.5 Years including summer school)

Entry Requirements: High School diploma or GCSEs including English, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry or equivalent. 

 

Progression Routes: Upon successful completion of the Pre-Medicine Foundation Programme, students can transfer to a Medical School.

PRE-MEDICINE PROGRAMME 

The aim of the course is to provide students who has non-scientific background, the necessary basic scientific knowledge for entry into a Medicine degree (MD).

The programme offers an alternative route entry into the Medical School for those students whose A level mix does not allow direct entry to Medicine, or whose circumstances affected their A level performance. It provides opportunities for students from a disadvantaged background or low achieving school or college.

They 2-year Pre-Medicine Programme prepares the students for Graduate Entry route into a 4 Year Medicine Degree (6 Years in total with Pre-Medicine) at university.

 

Course Content

The course offers students a strong background and understanding of medical science taught at the first year of university degree level. The programme is taught utilising a strong foundation of theoretical knowledge and real-world application through a range of teaching methodologies, such as lectures, small group tutorial sessions, problem-based learning, one-to-one personal tutoring, seminars, practicals, simulations and personal assessments.

During the 4-Semester long course, students take a total of 19 modules covering a range of subjects including: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, Histology and Cell biology, Psychology, Ethics, Medical Terminology, Computer and Calculus.
